Dear NTNU Community,

Despite of the outbreak of the global pandemic, Taiwan has been able to keep it under control through joined efforts of all the people in Taiwan in the past year. However, with an increasing number of new confirmed cases, on May 15, it was announced the alert level in Taipei City and New Taipei City would be elevated to Level 3. NTNU has been informed that one of the confirmed cases is an NTNU student. Since the student is only experiencing minor symptoms, on the recommendation of the governing health authority, the student has been placed in solitary quarantine. The student is not a resident of university dormitories, and all faculty and students who had come into contact with the said student have been asked to take precautionary measures. Locations the student visited had also been decontaminated.

With the newly elevated alert level, NTNU has also raised our pandemic prevention measures. All classes will be held online until the end of the current semester. Final exams will also be offered online. All activities on our campuses have been cancelled, postponed, or taken online. To further prevent the spread of the virus, administrative staff have now been divided into groups, taking turns to work from home. All buildings on campus will be further decontaminated and closed until further notice. Entry/exit control will be enforced all day. Registration by NTNU App will be required to enter NTNU campuses; temperatures will also be taken at campus gates.

At this time, I would like to ask everyone to remain calm. It does not matter if you are on campus or at home, please take care of yourself, be mindful of your own health, and maintain your normal schedule. Finally, wear a mask and wash your hands frequently. NTNU will continue to follow the latest development of the pandemic and work with the government to implement relevant measures. By working together, I have no doubt all of us will be able to get through this difficult time safely.
